The Working Retriever Club

ABOUT US
The Full Story
The Working Retriever Club was conceived by a group of hunters who wanted to improve their dogs performance in the field.
The end result was the formation of the club as a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing hunters, families and owners of Retrievers, the training support required to have an outstanding hunting companion and family member.

Mission
Our mission is to cultivate a community of passionate retriever enthusiasts dedicated to the art of training and working retrievers in both trials and hunting environments. Through education, camaraderie, and ethical practices, we strive to promote excellence in retriever training, foster sportsmanship, preserve the heritage of retriever work, and above all, have fun! Together, we aim to celebrate the bond between handler and dog while upholding the highest standards of performance and respect for our dogs and each other.

Vision
The Working Retriever Club has a vision of becoming a centre of excellence, aiming to elevate the standards in training, breeding and performance of retriever breeds. We strive to be a hub for education, research, and innovation in retriever training methods, health, and genetics. The club aims to attract top trainers, breeders, and handlers to collaborate, learn, and enhance the field of retriever work in New Zealand.

Family Orientated
The Working Retriever club is a family orientated organisation that actively encourages young adults and children to participate by handling their own dog or that of a member.
